Why SQL?
I’ve been in the tech industry for six months now. My job at Half Price Books in tech support is one of my favorite since I was a blacksmith. I enjoy problem solving, fixing things, making things, and the since of accomplishment that comes with the previous three.
Three months ago I took over processing the night and morning backups for the stores in the SQL. After doing this for a week my boss puled me into his office and asked if I enjoyed doing this, and after I said yes he told me I should learn SQL. The company is growing, and even if I don’t want to stay it’s great to know if I like working in the tech field he said.
I did some research and found that database programing and administration field is supposed to grow about 35% over the next ten years and current job salary averages run between 60K and 120K. So in my estimation I could earn enough to live comfortably and have enough time to pursue my hobbies.
